WHAT YOU'LL
Learn the fundamental postures of Gentle, Yin and Restorative yoga, understand proper ways of aligning the body, and how to sequence a class creatively and safely. Learn the important intangibles that contribute to a safe space for healing and restoration.
We spend a significant amount of time practicing and teaching with a variety of props and the use of hands to heal and facilitate a deeper experience for your students. Learn how to create and hold space, practice breath and meditation while building a tool box of unique yogic practices designed to transform your life in the softer side of yoga.
Over the course of the last two weekends, we delve into the rich philosophy of yoga spanning over 5000 years. Learn how to weave these themes into your classes with depth, authenticity, and confidence. Rather than dry, academic monologues, this vibrant material is presented through captivating stories and lively discussions, revealing how these themes apply to you as a teacher and a modern yogi.
This training involves many hours of practice-teaching designed to build your confidence within the safe environment of the program, and encourage you to apply and thereby internalize the knowledge you gained from the lectures and classes.
You will gain a deep understanding of the therapeutic application of yoga, and you'll have the tools to craft the full experience of the mind-body-spirit connection for your students.
Materials
Included in your tuition are the YogaSource Gentle and Philosophy manuals, detailing the application of the softer side of the practice, and a full chronology of the history of yoga and its dominant themes, as well as additional resources for further study, and journaling questions to help you apply the themes to your own life and teaching.
The following books are also required to support your studies:
Wisdom of Yoga by Stephen Cope
Buddha’s Brain by Rick Hanson
Yin Yoga by Paul Grilley
Relax and Renew by Judith Lasater
The Heart of Yoga by T. K. V. Desikachar
